Molecular mechanobiology and biophysics of cell adhesion

Mechanical signals are absolutely essential for the formation of tissue and in the healing of wounds. Mechanical forces induce changes in the binding of critical proteins on the cell surface, which result in the migration and rearrangement of cells. The goal of our research is to resolve the physical and engineering principles by which cells sense and respond to mechanical  stimuli. We use state of the art bioengineering tools to study mechanical tension sensing in cells. We also develop new types of ultra-sensitive, single molecule, biophysical techniques.
